Violet Chic…
This is Violet, this picture was taken in the 1950's.
Violet was my Nan. She raised me from birth and was my greatest inspiration. She lived through the first and second World Wars..the Great Depression of the 1930's and suffered the abuse of racism in Melbourne Australia in her early life.
Violet's Mother was a Scottish English teacher who fell in love and married her mature aged student. A Chinese national who emigrated to Australia in the late 1800's. He called himself Kit Dare. He established a Market Gardening business in Adelaide Australia and the family name is still visible to this day in the East End of Adelaide. Violet was a woman of conviction, glamour and poise. Always bejewelled with gloves, hat, a smile and lipstick.

During the Covid months of 2020 the business "Violet Chic" came into fruition. I had always harbored a dream to become a Jewellery Artist/Designer. From a small child being mesmerized with the colour, shapes and styles of my Nan " Violet's " Jewellery collection. A collection from her life's journey and world travels. The glamour of pieces from the late 1800's-1950's. "Life" took a different turn, and for many years I worked in the Artistic realms of Creative Design, Marketing, Advertising and Wellness. And now...to have come full circle, to have found my "JOY" in Designing and Handcrafting Jewellery.
